Mr. Saiki was appointed by the Governor to Chair the Board of Taxation Review from 2013-17, and has chaired the Tax and Probate Sections of the Hawai`i Bar.

Some other highlights from Mr. Saiki’s tax experience include:

• Structuring a tax-free “D” reorganization to accommodate a split-off of a company so owners can go separate ways.
• Successfully secured a private letter ruling from the IRS on said split-off to provide assurances that the “D” reorganization would be tax-free, saving the parties upwards of $8 million in federal income taxes.
• Facilitated the tax-structuring of a sale/gift of a Waikiki hotel.
